Here's what I got after about five minutes of fiddling with them: Then you'll want to do crop/rotate and exposure adjustment. Use the defaults for everything except base curve, where you'll want to use the "Panasonic-like" curve. There's a pretty steep learning curve that requires a lot of experimentation, but over time you'll develop workflow that includes a set of standard adjustments and then things you do manually to fine-tune the image.Ī good starter set would be profiled denoise, sharpen, hot pixels, base curve and shadows/highlights. That means you need to learn about what needs to be do done to your images to make them look the way you want and make Darktable do it. Darktable is not one of those programs that tries to figure out the best way to process the images you feed it it's a darkroom where you're in control of pretty much everything it does.
Raw images from most cameras look pretty awful if all you're doing to them is demosaicing. Darktable will use that as a preview for unprocessed images Geeqie may do the same. Many raw formats include a low-quality JPEG preview that was processed by the camera with the same parameters as if it were going to be saved as a JPEG.
